The Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC), Nagpur was conceived as the major R&D support system for the emerging modern aluminium industry in India and is a US$ 10 million joint venture supported almost equally by Department of Mines, Government of India and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It has successfully carried out a large number of research projects for the Indian Aluminium Industry in the areas of Bauxite, Alumina, Analytical Methods, Aluminium Electrolysis and Downstream Processing. Centre offers Training Programs consisting of interesting lectures by experts, technical discussions and excellent training materials pertinent to the requirements of the aluminium industry. The Indian Aluminium Industry, Mining Industry, R&D and Academic Institutions actively participate in these programs and get benefited. More than 700 Industry personnel from NALCO Smelter, NALCO Rolling Plant, VEDANTA have been trained through these programmes.

24 participants representing Vedanta Limited, Hindalco Industries Limited (Utkal, Belgavi, Muri, Renukoot), Abhitech Energycon Limited, and Kimberlite Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd were attended the training program. The training program was coordinated by Mr. Amol Mankar, Principal Scientist and HoD, Alumina Department. Scientists from the Alumina, Bauxite, Electrolysis and Analytical departments delivered expert lectures during the sessions. This intensive technical program is part of JNARDDC’s ongoing efforts to enhance skill development and knowledge dissemination across the Indian aluminium industry. Through hands-on training and expert-led sessions, the course aimed to strengthen participants' operational understanding of the alumina production process and empower industry professionals to drive innovation and efficiency in their respective plants. Such initiatives underscore the Centre’s commitment to supporting Atmanirbhar Bharat by building a technically competent and future-ready workforce.
